The pattern reflected across Telangana, which ended the first month of the southwest monsoon with a 12% rainfall deficit, while Hyderabad recorded rainfall 4% below normal, according to Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) data. The southwest monsoon entered Telangana on June 8 and, after a prolonged pause in its advance, covered the entire State on June 23.

Although Hyderabad district itself remained in the normal category with a 4% shortfall, neighbouring Medchal Malkajgiri district reported a deficit of 41%. Despite the rainfall deficit, June this year fared better than the corresponding month last year.
Telangana had received only 104.2 mm of rainfall during June 2025, compared with 115.3 mm this year, representing an 11% improvement over the previous year, although still below the long-term average.
