Suman Kumari was arrested in Patna, Bihar, and investigators suspect she played a crucial role in the execution of the alleged examination leak, according to sources. Police suspect that after the TET question paper was leaked, Suman Kumari delivered a copy of it to members of the network involved in the operation at the instructions of her husband, Bijender Kumar Gupta. Investigators also believe she remained in direct contact with him throughout the alleged conspiracy, coordinating key aspects of the operation. According to sources, Suman Kumari is also suspected to have handled the financial negotiations linked to the alleged paper leak.
Investigators believe she could have negotiated the monetary deal with those seeking access to the leaked paper, including deciding the final amount to be charged and the advance payment that was to be collected before the examination. The latest arrest comes as the SIT expands its investigation into what officials believe is an organised inter-state network behind the paper leak. According to an ANI report, the investigation has identified a resident of Bihar as the alleged mastermind behind the scam, while another key accused has been traced to Haryana. SIT sources told ANI that efforts are continuing across multiple states to identify and arrest other individuals allegedly linked to the organised network responsible for leaking the examination paper. The Maharashtra TET examination, scheduled for June 28, was postponed after the alleged leak came to light during a police operation in Bhiwandi. The examination was to be conducted at 1,028 centres across Maharashtra. According to ANI, the accused arrested earlier in the case were produced before a court in Bhiwandi on Sunday. Public Prosecutor Advocate Maria Ansari said the investigation would continue till July 6, adding that the main accused from Maharashtra would be produced before the court by then.
