The Kerala High Court has ordered strict action in the 2025 Sabarimala gold theft case after reviewing the SIT report. The court said there is overwhelming material against seven accused, including people entrusted with safeguarding temple affairs, over the alleged misuse of the sacred gold cladding of the Dwar Palakas. The High Court observed that the gold-clad Dwar Palakas were taken to Chennai in 2019, allegedly mislabelled as copper plates, where the original gold was removed and replaced with gold plating.
It said the poor-quality plating exposed the copper surface, raising serious questions about an alleged conspiracy to conceal the crime. The SIT has expanded its probe to several former Travancore Devaswom Board officials, who could face prosecution if found guilty.
