Ram Temple Row: Trust Stopped SBI From Replacing Cash Counting Staff Amid Donation Theft Probe
Sources reveal that the State Bank of India (SBI) had flagged suspected irregularities regarding the cash counting staff at the Ram Temple three months ago
Sources reveal that the State Bank of India (SBI) had flagged suspected irregularities regarding the cash counting staff at the Ram Temple three months ago. The bank suspected that donation funds were being siphoned off and recommended changing the staff, who were hired on monthly wages of 12,000 to 15,000 rupees. While the outsourcing agency initiated the removal process, officials from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust intervened and prevented their dismissal.
Eight individuals, reportedly hired based on recommendations, have been arrested in connection with the donation theft case. The investigation has now expanded to include banking institutions, with notices issued to six to seven banks, including the SBI. Police are tracing the money trail and examining transaction records, lockers, and CCTV footage. SBI staffers Ratnesh and Gagandeep are currently under investigation, and a bank manager is likely to be questioned.
Congress leader Pawan Khera also stated that the trust protected the staff despite the SBI's warnings.
