The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir has filed a watertight chargesheet in the Srinagar court, specifically the designated TADA court, in connection with the 1990 kidnap and murder of a Kashmiri Pandit nurse. The nurse, who worked at the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar, was shot dead by militants, and her body was found near the institute.
After a thirty-five year wait for justice, during which previous investigations were not taken to their logical conclusion, the case was reopened under the directive of the Lieutenant Governor. A superintendent of police-level officer led the reinvestigation, corroborating archival police files, fresh eyewitness accounts, and evidence, offering hope of closure to the victim's family.
