Suspended head constables J. Nani and Ashok, attached to the Krishnalanka police station, who were allegedly involved in the wrongful confinement, custodial torture, and death
Suspended head constables J. Nani and Ashok, attached to the Krishnalanka police station, who were allegedly involved in the wrongful confinement, custodial torture, and death of Gade Sai Krishna, surrendered to the police on Monday (June 29, 2026). The head constables had been missing since the arrest of Circle Inspector S.S.V.V. Nagaraju. They surrendered to the NTR Commissionerate police, who shifted them to the SIT office, where the team head, IGP M.
Ravi Prakash, and SPs Adnan Nayeem Asmi and Amit Bardar questioned them until late in the night. The head constables are accused of resorting to custodial torture of Sai Krishna at the Krishnalanka police station, which led to his death. They reportedly assisted Mr. Nagaraju in disposing of the body. SIT officials also grilled a few others, including the friends of Mr. Nagaraju and some outsiders who allegedly had connections with the case.
“More arrests are likely to happen soon in the alleged custodial torture and murder case,” a senior police official said. Meanwhile, the High Court has scheduled the habeas corpus petition filed by the victim’s
mother, Gade Vijaya Lakshmi, for two weeks from now. In a related development, the petition filed by the SIT officials seeking police custody of the accused, CI Nagaraju, has been scheduled for July 1.
