The Foreign Secretary of India has addressed reports alleging a track two dialogue with Pakistan on the sidelines of a security conference in Sri Lanka. The Foreign Secretary clarified that any such interactions are private events and represent the personal views of retired diplomats and retired military officials.
He emphasised that these discussions have no official participation, support, or involvement from the Government of India, nor do they reflect official policy. A participant of the event in Colombo also posted on social media that the portrayal of the gathering as a track two dialogue is incorrect, clarifying that it was an international think-tank conference attended by global experts.
