Pakistan has conducted airstrikes in Afghanistan, resulting in the deaths of thirty-five people, including a four-year-old child. Over the past seven months, more than five hundred Afghan civilians have reportedly been killed in similar military operations. While Islamabad claims to be targeting terrorist training camps following attacks on Pakistani security forces in Karachi, the airstrikes have largely resulted in civilian casualties. The recent bombings have escalated diplomatic tensions, with Afghanistan and Pakistan summoning each other's envoys to lodge formal protests.
Concurrently, the Indian government has firmly rejected allegations linking it to the Karachi attacks, dismissing them as completely baseless. Furthermore, Indian officials clarified that any reported back-channel diplomatic engagements with Pakistan are entirely private initiatives with no official government backing or participation. The official stance remains unchanged that terror and diplomatic talks cannot proceed simultaneously. Pakistan faces mounting internal instability across multiple provinces, further compounding the regional security challenges along the border.
