The four-day Theppotsavam (float festival) at the Sri Padmavati Ammavari temple in Tiruchanur concluded on a grand note on Monday. The richly adorned deity was taken in a ceremonial procession from the temple to the Padma Sarovaram, where the idol was placed on a beautifully decorated float.
The float then circled the temple tank seven times amid the chanting of Vedic hymns and the devotional fervour of devotees. According to temple mythology, Goddess Padmavati is believed to have manifested on a lotus in the Padma Sarovaram, located adjacent to the temple.
As per tradition, the float circles the temple tank three times on each of the first two days, five times on the third day and seven times on
the concluding day. The festivities concluded with the deity being taken in a procession on the Garuda Vahanam around the temple, offering a captivating spectacle to the devotees.
