The food safety wing of the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) conducted inspections at Barbeque Nation and Chinese Wok restaurants in Madeenaguda area of Hyderabad on Monday, June 29, and detected multiple hygiene and food safety violations. At Barbeque Nation, officials found brownies and kulfi in pan, malai and kesar pista flavours stored without labels.
The products were discarded on the spot. The team also noted the absence of food testing, packaging material and pest control records. Vegetable crates and water bubble containers were found to be unclean, and the restaurant was instructed to replace them immediately. Chopping boards were in poor condition, while cockroach infestation was observed in the fruit storage area and near refrigerators.
At Chinese Wok, inspection revealed that cooked rice had been assigned a shelf life of 36 hours without any supporting laboratory validation. The outlet also failed to maintain food testing, packaging material and
annual medical fitness records for food handlers. Officials found that eggs were being used without cleaning, one food handler had untrimmed nails, and water taps near the rice and noodles preparation area were unclean.
