The State government has decided to relieve suspended IPS officer P. V. Sunil Kumar from service with effect from June 30 on his attaining the age of superannuation. The order makes it clear that his retirement is without prejudice to the disciplinary and criminal proceedings pending against him, and is subject to the provisions of the All India Services (Death-cum-Retirement Benefits) Rules, 1958, and other applicable rules.
According to G.O. Rt. No. 1274 issued by Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad, the disciplinary proceedings initiated against Mr. Sunil Kumar before his retirement will continue and be concluded in accordance with the provisions of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, and the All India Services (Death-cum-Retirement Benefits) Rules, 1958.
The government also said that Mr. Sunil Kumar’s pensionary benefits would be regulated under Rule 16 of the All India Services (Death-cum-Retirement Benefits) Rules, 1958,
and other instructions issued by the Government of India from time to time. The Director General of Police has been directed to take the necessary action.
