Condemning the NEET paper leak and demanding the resignation of Union Minister of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan, scores of Youth Congress leaders, members and students took out a torch rally in Belagavi on Sunday evening. Led by State general secretary of Youth Congress Rahul Jarkiholi, the protestors holding torches marched from the Congress office in Belagavi to Rani Chennamma Circle.
The protestors demanded that the examination system in the country should be made more transparent and those involved in the paper leak be brought to book, along with sacking Mr. Pradhan. The protestors said that because of the NEET paper leak the future of lakhs of honest students has been adversely affected and also, the students have lost trust in the competitive examination system.
Addressing the protestors, Rahul Jarikholi said that taking moral responsibility of the incident, Mr. Pradhan should immediately resign from his post and there should be an impartial and transparent investigation of the whole incident. Cancellation and re-examination are nothing but the failure of the Union government to protect the interests of students, he said. Repeated paper leaks are testimony to the failure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre, he claimed.
Dharmendra Pradhan has the least concern for the future of students and he should be sacked, he demanded. Along with Youth Congress leaders, including Mrunal Hebbalkar, Congress leaders, including MLA Asif Sait, Laxmanrao Chingale, Malagouda Patil, Pradeep M.J. and others, took part in the torch rally.
