(Image: X) Karnataka on Monday commenced the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the 2026 electoral rolls, with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) set to begin distributing enumeration forms through door-to-door visits from June 30. Chief Electoral Officer V Anbukkumar said the exercise will use October 1, 2026, as the qualifying date and urged all eligible voters to participate to ensure their names are included in the revised electoral rolls. Door-To-Door Verification Till July 29 BLOs will conduct house-to-house visits between June 30 and July 29 to distribute partially pre-filled enumeration forms to all registered voters. Voters have been asked to affix their photographs, fill in the required details, sign the forms and return them to their respective BLOs. The draft electoral roll will be published on August 5, after which claims and objections can be filed until September 4.
The final electoral roll will be released on October 7. Over 68,000 Officials Deployed The Election Commission has deployed 68,123 officials for the revision exercise, including 59,050 Booth Level Officers, 7,556 Booth Level Supervisors and 224 Electoral Registration Officers. Anbukkumar said all officials, from the state headquarters to the district level, had been trained and were fully prepared for the exercise. Political parties have also appointed around 1.15 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs), most of whom have already undergone training. Forms Printed For 5.54 Crore Voters Enumeration forms have been printed for more than 5.54 crore voters whose names were on Karnataka’s electoral roll as of June 16, 2026. According to the CEO, 91.61 per cent of the state’s 5.54 crore electors have already been mapped. As many as 126 Assembly constituencies have completed over 95 per cent mapping, while 173 of the state’s 224 constituencies have crossed the 90 per cent mark. The mapping exercise will continue until the end of July. No Documents Needed During Initial Enumeration Clarifying the process, Anbukkumar said voters will not be required to submit any documents during the initial enumeration phase.
Documents will only be sought after the publication of the draft electoral roll if discrepancies are found in a voter’s details. In such cases, notices specifying the required documents and timelines will be issued. Special Arrangements For Voters To make the process easier, each enumeration form will carry the name and contact number of the concerned BLO. Voter Registration Centres have also been set up at Gram Panchayat offices across the state to assist electors. BLOs have been provided with two types of stickers—a square sticker indicating that the enumeration form has been delivered and a red sticker for locked houses mentioning the date of the next visit. CEO Responds To Political Concerns Responding to concerns raised by political parties over transparency, Anbukkumar said the entire Special Intensive Revision was being conducted strictly in accordance with the law. Addressing allegations by the Congress regarding discrepancies in the details of BLOs published on the CEO Karnataka website, he said the information had already been updated and any remaining errors would be corrected. On the BJP’s complaint about a parallel electoral exercise being conducted by the State Election Commission for Greater Bengaluru Authority wards, the Chief Electoral Officer said he could comment only on the Election Commission of India’s Special Intensive Revision.
