A Special Court in Pune has sentenced a sixty-five-year-old man to death for the rape and murder of a three-and-a-half-year-old girl in Nasrapur Village, Maharashtra. The incident occurred on May first, 2026, when the victim was visiting her maternal home. Following a search, her body was found in a cattle shed.
The case proceeded rapidly, with the police arresting the accused on the same day and filing a twelve hundred-page charge sheet within sixteen days. The court framed charges on May twenty-eighth, and final arguments concluded on June twentieth. The court termed the crime heinous, noting the accused showed no signs of reform and posed a continuing threat, with the prosecution proving guilt through strong circumstantial evidence.
