Singapore Consul General in Chennai Edgar Pang Tze Chiang called on IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh at his residence on Monday, during which they discussed ways to strengthen the partnership between Andhra Pradesh and Singapore. Lokesh sought Singapore’s support in enhancing bilateral cooperation in technology, trade, investments and the maritime sector.
He outlined the State government’s ‘Speed of Doing Business’ initiative and highlighted the investment opportunities available in Andhra Pradesh. The Minister said the government was focused on translating investment proposals into projects on the ground, adding that about 750 projects were at various stages of implementation across the State. He also said 22 industrial clusters were being developed to boost industrial growth.
Lokesh said the decision of globally reputed companies such as Google and ArcelorMittal to invest in Andhra Pradesh reflected the confidence of investors in the coalition government. He also spoke about the reforms introduced in the education sector and shared insights from his recent visit to Russia. Chiang said Andhra Pradesh was emerging as one of the leading investment destinations in the country and appreciated the pace of development in the State.
He assured Mr. Lokesh of Singapore’s support in further strengthening its partnership with Andhra Pradesh.
