Sikh MLAs and ministers from the Aam Aadmi Party, Shiromani Akali Dal, and Congress have appeared before the Akal Takht Secretariat in Amritsar. The appearance follows directions from the supreme temporal body over objections regarding an anti-secular law. The Akal Takht Sahib objected that neither SGPC, the Akal Takht Sahib, nor any Sikh organisation was consulted when the law was made.
While the Aam Aadmi Party states that they only made an amendment to the original 2008 law, the Shiromani Akali Dal maintains that if any recommendations are made, then it should be made by the government.
