The Government of India has decided to send the Minister of State for External Affairs and the Governor of Bihar to represent the country at the funeral of the late Supreme Leader of Iran. The Bihar Governor is a retired Lieutenant General who previously served as a military commander in Kashmir, which also conveys the sentiments of the Shia community in India.
Although Iran had formally invited the Indian Prime Minister to the ceremony, the delegation comprising the Union Minister and the Governor will travel to Tehran to participate in the event and convey condolences on behalf of the Indian people.
