Vijayabaskar, who represents the Karur constituency, resigned as a member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on Monday.
His resignation comes amid a series of exits from the AIADMK in the months following the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, with several party leaders stepping down from both the legislature and the organisation. Earlier, on June 16, former Tamil Nadu Health Minister and Viralimalai MLA C. Vijayabaskar also resigned from the Assembly, submitting a handwritten resignation letter to Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar at the Secretariat in Chennai.
