Tata Motors is all set to take the wraps off the Sierra EV on June 30, marking the return of one of India's most iconic nameplates in an all-electric avatar. Ahead of its debut, the company has officially revealed the SUV's exterior through a new teaser, offering the clearest look yet at what will become the seventh model in Tata's growing EV portfolio. Read Full Story While the Sierra EV shares its overall silhouette and proportions with the upcoming ICE-powered Sierra, it features several design elements unique to the electric version. The front fascia adopts a cleaner, closed-off look with revised detailing and EV-specific accents, giving it a more futuristic appearance. At the same time, the SUV retains the upright stance, expansive glasshouse and unmistakable road presence that made the original Sierra a cult favourite.
The latest teaser also hints at the Sierra EV's off-road capability, showing the SUV traversing desert terrain. More importantly, a close-up of the tailgate reveals a 'QWD Dual Motor' badge, confirming that Tata Motors will equip the Sierra EV with its new all-wheel-drive technology. Similar to the Harrier EV, the system is expected to feature independent electric motors on the front and rear axles, delivering enhanced traction and performance. Mechanically, the Sierra EV is expected to be underpinned by Tata Motors' latest acti.ev+ architecture and is likely to share much of its powertrain with the recently unveiled Harrier EV. Battery pack options are expected to include 65kWh and 75kWh units, with the larger battery likely reserved for the dual-motor QWD variants. Entry-level versions are expected to feature a single electric motor driving one axle.
Although Tata Motors is yet to announce official power, torque or range figures, the Sierra EV is expected to deliver a noticeable step up in performance over the brand's existing electric SUVs. Fast-charging capability, certified driving range and detailed technical specifications are expected to be revealed at launch. Inside, the Sierra EV is expected to carry forward the premium cabin showcased by the Sierra concept. Top-spec variants could feature a triple-screen dashboard comprising a fully digital instrument cluster, a large central infotainment touchscreen and a dedicated display for the front passenger. Other expected features include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, dual-zone climate control, a JBL sound system with Dolby Atmos, an augmented reality head-up display, and a comprehensive suite of ADAS safety technologies. The Sierra EV is expected to slot between the Curvv EV and Harrier EV in Tata Motors' electric SUV lineup, targeting buyers looking for a premium, spacious and technologically advanced family SUV.
