Overnight heavy rains hit Mumbai, causing waterlogging in low-lying areas and leading to morning traffic snarls. The Andheri subway was inundated and shut down as a precautionary measure at 1:46 AM on Monday. As the rains receded, the subway was reopened around 5:00 AM, before the morning rush hour.
An orange alert has been issued for Mumbai, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour. Local train services remain unaffected, but authorities are keeping watch on the system.
