What began as a single unexplained fire has turned into a mystery gripping an entire village in Madhya Pradesh. Over the past several days, household items in the homes of five brothers in a Gwalior village have repeatedly caught fire under unexplained circumstances, leaving the family too frightened to sleep indoors. With no clear cause in sight, villagers initially sought answers from faith healers and tantriks. Now, forensic experts and government officials are searching for a scientific explanation. Read Full Story The incidents have been reported from Antari village, around 30 kilometres from Gwalior city, where members of the Baghel family claim household items have been catching fire without any apparent cause.
Clothes, bedding and even food items have reportedly ignited suddenly, creating panic among the family and the surrounding community. The five affected brothers have been identified as Kalyan Singh Baghel, Sewaram Baghel, Kamta Prasad Baghel, Mahendra Baghel and Laxiram Baghel. According to the family, the first incident occurred at Kalyan Singh's house, where clothes and bedding allegedly caught fire unexpectedly. Soon afterwards, similar incidents were reported at the homes of his four brothers, with food grains and other belongings also being damaged. The family claims there were no active cooking stoves or visible electrical faults when the fires broke out. They allege the flames appear suddenly, leaving little time to save household belongings.
Fearing further incidents, family members have stopped sleeping inside their homes and are spending nights in the open. ITEMS SHIFTED TO NEIGHBOURHOOD ALSO CAUGHT FIRE Adding to the mystery, the family alleges that items shifted to neighbouring houses for safekeeping also caught fire. The incidents have fuelled fear across the village, with some residents attributing them to supernatural causes. Several local faith healers and tantriks were reportedly called to perform rituals, but no explanation emerged and the fires continued. As the incidents gained attention, district officials visited the village and initiated precautionary measures. A water tanker has been stationed in the area, while the fire brigade has been kept on standby to respond quickly in case of further outbreaks.
Villagers have also stored water in containers at their homes as a precaution. TO BE EXAMINED SCIENTIFICALLY Authorities, however, have ruled out speculation and said the matter will be examined scientifically. Officials said teams from the forensic science laboratory and the electricity department will inspect the affected houses to determine whether the fires were caused by an electrical fault, a chemical reaction or any other scientific factor. Police have also been deployed in the village, while the administration has assured the affected family of all possible assistance. Until investigators determine the cause of the unexplained fires, uncertainty and fear continue to grip the village. Ends
