After Winning Streak In Northern States, BJP Chief Pushes 'Double Engine' Pitch In Telangana Published By, Last Updated: June 28, 2026, 22:22 IST During his three-day visit to Telangana, Nabin virtually inaugurated the offices of nine BJP district units. BJP President Nitin Nabin (Image: News18) BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Sunday called for installing a “double engine government" in Telangana, saying it is necessary for the state’s development and to realise the vision of a “Viksit Bharat". He alleged that the ideals of the Telangana agitation have not been fully achieved even 12 years after the state was formed, and urged party workers to intensify efforts ahead of upcoming municipal elections, including polls in Hyderabad and other civic bodies. “The Narendra Modi government is serving Telangana people through Central government schemes.
But, I know that Telangana cannot be put on the development track, for which statehood was dreamed of, until a double engine government was formed," he said. During his three-day visit to Telangana, Nabin virtually inaugurated the offices of nine BJP district units. He said the party’s performance in recent years showed it was “gradually winning support across the country" and expressed confidence that similar success would be achieved in Telangana. Targeting the Congress, Nabin said the party had compromised on people’s interests, while crediting BJP workers for strengthening the organisation in the state. “It is only the BJP cadres who can defeat the Congress in Telangana," he noted. Citing the example of BJP’s success in West Bengal, Nabin urged the party’s General Secretary Sunil Bansal, who played a key role in BJP’s campaign in the state, to make double efforts in Telangana.
Recalling his participation in Telangana Formation Day celebrations in Delhi on June 2, he said the dream for which statehood was achieved has not been realised. Nabin also recalled the “role played by late BJP leader Sushma Swaraj in the formation of Telangana by effectively raising the issue in parliament". He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi tries to fulfil the ideals of Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Jana Sangh leader Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
