The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has grounded the aircraft and initiated an investigation into the accident. The incident took place around 11.15 pm on Friday at Chakeri Airport, where Garg Aviation’s twin-engine Tecnam P2006T aircraft (registration VT-NBV) was conducting a night instructional flight.
Trainee Hit On Back, Hospitalised According to the DGCA, the aircraft was carrying a flight instructor and a female cadet pilot. After landing, the trainee exited the aircraft even though its engines were still running. While moving away, she was hit on the back by the rotating propeller, resulting in grievous injuries. She was immediately taken to a hospital in Kanpur for treatment and remains admitted. The aviation regulator has not provided additional details regarding her condition. In response, the DGCA has removed the instructor from flying training duties until the inquiry is completed. The regulator has also ordered that the Tecnam P2006T involved in the incident remain grounded until the investigation concludes.
“The involved instructor has been off rostered from the flying training duties pending investigation," the regulator said, adding that it has directed “no utilisation of the aircraft involved in the occurrence pending investigation." The DGCA has classified the accident as a ground collision involving the trainee pilot and the aircraft. Investigators are examining the sequence of events, including why the trainee disembarked while the aircraft’s engines and propellers were still operating.
