During a historic visit marking the fiftieth anniversary of the independence of Seychelles and bilateral diplomatic relations, India and Seychelles have deepened their cooperation across multiple sectors. The newly announced initiatives include the implementation of the Unified Payments Interface in Seychelles and a Memorandum of Understanding on space exploration. Highlighting the Indian Ocean as a shared home, the discussions focused on maritime security, sustainability, and economic prosperity.
The collaboration extends to a one hundred and seventy-five million dollar special economic package covering social housing, transport, skilling, food security, education, and defence. Furthermore, the virtual groundbreaking of a Professional and Technical Centre was conducted to boost youth employment and skills. A significant agreement on the Jan Aushadhi scheme was also signed to provide affordable and quality medicines to the people of Seychelles.
Emphasizing a shared vision for an ocean of opportunity, the partnership aims to foster innovation, clean energy initiatives, and diplomatic ties for the next fifty years of mutual growth and strategic cooperation.
