England boss Thomas Tuchel says his side are fully prepared to take the next step in their World Cup campaign against Panama. "We feel very well prepared. Strong team on the pitch and ready to go and prove a point and do the next step and win the match," Tuchel told ITV before kick-off.
Explaining his five changes, Tuchel said he wanted to inject more speed into England's attack against a Panama side expected to defend deep. "The target is to speed up the game because it's very difficult if we always play against 10 men defending with devotion and commitment." The England manager also dismissed the idea that the changes were focused on individuals, saying his wide players operate as a unit.
"It's not like Marcus for Anthony and everything is solved. Anthony did well, Marcus did well from the bench and now it's a turnaround." Tuchel confirmed Declan Rice has been
rested despite being fit after taking a knock and carrying a yellow card. Jude Bellingham moves into a deeper midfield role, with Morgan Rogers starting in the No. 10 position.
