BHADRADRI KOTHAGUDEM The much awaited redevelopment works at the renowned Sree Seetha Ramachandra Swamy temple in the temple town of Bhadrachalam in Telangana commenced on Saturday, marking the start of the Phase-I works. In March this year, the State government accorded administrative sanction for โน 351 crore for the redevelopment and rejuvenation of the historic 17th-century temple in Bhadrachalam.
A comprehensive master plan has been approved for temple and town development in three phases in strict adherence to Agama Shastras, according to temple sources. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had performed the Bhoomi Puja for the temple redevelopment works under Phase-I of the ambitious project in Bhadrachalam on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami festival on March 27, 2026.
Under Phase-I, the expansion and infrastructure development of the temple complex along with the development of the Godavari ghats are expected to be completed ahead of Godavari Pushkaralu-2027, the once-in-12-years religious event. Upgrading infrastructure, enhancing pilgrim amenities and ensuring hassle-free darshan for devotees constitute the crux of the redevelopment project, temple sources said.
The phase-I works got off to a traditional start amid the chanting of Vedic hymns on the temple premises in Bhadrachalam on Saturday morning. Bhadrachalam MLA Dr. Tellam Venkat Rao, Bhadradri Kothagudem Collector Ankit and Sub-Collector Mrinal Shreshtha, among others, were present.
