Iran head coach Amir Ghalenoei has urged FIFA president Gianni Infantino to "stand up" to the US after again saying his team had been treated unfairly by the co-hosts. Before the tournament started, Iran had their base camp moved from the US to Tijuana in Mexico. For their first two group matches, near Los Angeles, Iran were not permitted to travel until the day before. This was relaxed to two days before the final group game against Egypt in Seattle on Friday, although Iran were required to leave immediately after.
Speaking after the game that ended in a 1-1 draw, Ghalenoei said: "The behaviour, their behaviour (the US) towards us has been really terrible and I hope the world will be aware of that because they didn't let us come two weeks earlier, they didn't let us come two days earlier before every game and all this physically and mentally really hurt us. But despite all these problems, we had a war as well, we managed to perform well."
