The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), on Saturday, arrested a panchayat secretary in Khammam district while he was accepting a ₹25,000 bribe for processing a building permission and allotting a house number. The accused, Thammisetty Suresh, Panchayat Secretary of Bhanapuram Gram Panchayat in Mudigonda mandal, was apprehended by the ACB’s Khammam range near the Rythu Vedika at Mudigonda.
According to the ACB, the official had demanded ₹25,000 from a complainant to process and grant building permission and allot a house number for a one-room sheet-roofed house being constructed on a five-gunta plot in Bhanapuram village.
The tainted cash was recovered from his possession. The accused was arrested and produced before the Special Court for SPE and ACB cases in Warangal. The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.
The case is under investigation.
