The Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has refuted claims that the Preamble to the Constitution has been dropped from the Class 9 Social Science textbook. NCERT clarified that these claims are misleading and stated that the Preamble continues to feature in the opening pages of all its new textbooks. According to sources, constitutional topics have been redistributed across multiple grades, and a detailed chapter on the Preamble will be covered in Class 10.
The development follows controversy over the inclusion of a chapter on the Emergency in the Class 9 syllabus, which drew criticism from opposition parties, though the move was supported by the Education Minister.
