Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Anil Desai has defended party chief Uddhav Thackeray while reacting to the political developments surrounding Operation Tiger in Maharashtra. Speaking to the media, Desai praised Uddhav Thackeray's leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, saying the former Chief Minister inspired confidence among healthcare workers and the public. He asserted that voters elected Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs because of their trust in Uddhav Thackeray's leadership.
Desai also criticized political defections, saying that leaders who leave the party cannot blame Uddhav Thackeray or the organization. Referring to claims by the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena that more MLAs and corporators may join their camp, Desai said political parties should focus on winning public support rather than expanding through defections.
