In a major policy flip, the Punjab government has officially notified the VB G RAM G Ramji Scheme, guaranteeing 125 days of employment to rural households. This comes after the ruling party had strongly opposed the scheme, passing a resolution calling it “anti-poor and anti-labour”. The new scheme replaces the existing MGNREGA model and aligns with the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
Karnataka is also set to roll out the same scheme from July 1, despite earlier plans to challenge it in court.
