Ketan Agarwal Murder: How A Cricket Connection Brought Accused Siya Goyal And Chetan Chaudhary Together Published By, Last Updated: June 27, 2026, 08:30 IST Police probing Ketan Agarwal murder trace links between accused Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary via Sahil Goyal, Siya's brother. The two allegedly met again at a Diwali gathering hosted by a common friend in 2025 As investigators continue to probe the murder of Ketan Agarwal, fresh findings suggest that accused Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary first became acquainted through Siya’s elder brother, Sahil Goyal, who shared a cricketing connection with Chetan. According to a report by India Today, Chetan regularly played cricket matches with Sahil, and Siya would often accompany her brother to the games. Police believe this is when Siya and Chetan first became acquainted before reconnecting years later. The two allegedly met again at a Diwali gathering hosted by a common friend in 2025.
Investigators say their interactions increased considerably after the event. Call detail records examined by police indicate that Siya and Chetan remained in frequent touch for several months. Officials said that since January, the duo exchanged 2,004 calls with a combined duration of nearly 238 hours, suggesting sustained communication between them. As part of the probe, police questioned Sahil Goyal for nearly 10 hours on Friday regarding his sister’s relationship with Chetan Chaudhary. He was allowed to return home later in the evening. “We had summoned him for questioning in the morning. He was allowed to go late in the evening," a local police official told PTI. The officer said Sahil was acquainted with Chetan and investigators cross checked certain details with him during the questioning. Police are also planning to record statements from other relatives of Siya Goyal in connection with the case.
The investigation has also moved towards examining digital evidence. Police claim both accused deleted chats and online activity from their mobile phones. WhatsApp conversations, Instagram interactions and other deleted records recovered from the devices are now being analysed by forensic experts. Investigators suspect messages were erased both before and after the incident at Lohagad. Sources said the accused allegedly went beyond deleting messages and also cleared recycle bins and removed traces from their devices, prompting investigators to rely on forensic methods to recreate communication records. Police are also looking into a meeting between Siya and Chetan that took place a day before Ketan Agarwal’s death. According to investigators, the two met at a café in Pune’s Lullanagar area on June 17 and spent nearly an hour there, between 4.30 pm and 5.30 pm. Officers are examining whether any discussion related to the alleged crime took place during the meeting.
