(Source: Reuters) United States President Donald Trump on Friday launched a blistering attack on the growing influence of democratic socialists within the Democratic Party, branding them “hardcore, godless communists" and warning that communism poses the “most serious threat" the United States has faced in its 250-year history. Speaking at the Faith and Freedom Coalition Policy Conference in Washington on Friday, Trump also declared that America had been officially rededicated as “One Nation Under GOD." “We officially rededicated America as One Nation Under GOD. We always have been, and we always will be!" Trump told the gathering. The remarks came days after a string of progressive candidates backed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani performed strongly in Democratic primaries.
While none of the victorious candidates has identified themselves as communists, two newly elected House candidates, Claire Valdez and Darializa Avila Chevalier, describe themselves as democratic socialists. Another Mamdani-backed candidate, Brad Lander, won his race after leaving the Democratic Socialists of America in 2023. So they’re turning communist themselves, becoming a Communist party. If they fought them the way they fight Republicans or the way they fight me, they’d be victorious," Trump said. “Never forget, if the radical left ever gets the chance again, they will bring all this insanity back at levels you’ve never seen. They’re trying like hell," he said. Calling communism an ideology built on false promises, Trump joked that he would be “the greatest communist in history" because he would simply promise free housing, food and rent to everyone. “I think I’d be the greatest communist in history.
