The investigation into the murder of realtor Ketan Agarwal has taken a fresh turn after police uncovered a deeper personal connection between the two accused, Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary. Investigators say Chetan was known to Siya’s elder brother, Sahil Goyal, through cricket, and this association eventually brought Siya and Chetan into contact. According to police sources, Chetan, a cricket player, had played matches alongside Sahil, and Siya would often accompany her brother during games. Investigators believe this is where Siya and Chetan first became acquainted before reconnecting later. Call detail records examined by investigators suggest the two remained in regular contact over several months. Police data shows that from January onwards, Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary exchanged as many as 2,004 calls. The cumulative duration of these conversations was nearly 238 hours, indicating sustained communication between the two accused. DELETED CHATS UNDER FORENSIC SCRUTINY The investigation has now expanded into digital evidence after police found that both accused allegedly deleted their conversations and online activity from their mobile devices. Investigators said WhatsApp chats, Instagram interactions and other deleted digital records from both phones are being subjected to forensic analysis.
Police suspect that conversations were erased both before and after the incident at Lohagad. Sources added that the accused allegedly did not stop at deleting messages but also cleared recycle bins and removed traces from their devices, making forensic recovery necessary to reconstruct communication timelines. JUNE 17 CAFE MEETING UNDER SCANNER Police have also identified a meeting between Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary that took place a day before Ketan Agarwal’s death. According to investigators, the two met at a cafe in Pune’s Lullanagar area on June 17 and remained there for nearly an hour, from around 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
Officers are now examining whether discussions connected to the alleged crime took place during this meeting. POLICE WIDEN PROBE Gajanan Tonpe, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Lonavala division, said the investigation has established the roles of both accused. Police have already questioned Siya’s brother, Sahil Goyal, and are planning to record statements from additional relatives and friends connected to the case as the investigation continues. Ends
