Police have arrested both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary and booked them under Sections 103 (murder) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Investigators are continuing to examine forensic evidence, CCTV footage, digital communications, call records and witness statements as they piece together the events leading to Ketan Agarwal's death. In the ongoing investigation into the murder of 25-year-old realtor Ketan Agarwal, Pune Rural Police have sent the mobile phones of Siya Goyal and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary for forensic examination after investigators found that the duo had allegedly deleted their chat history and cleared the recycle bins on their devices before and after the crime. According to police, forensic experts have been tasked with retrieving the deleted conversations as part of the investigation. “During our investigation, it was revealed that both the accused deleted their chats before June 18 and after the Lohagad incident from their phones. The chats were deleted from the recycle bins of their respective phones," said a police officer associated with the investigation. 2,004 Phone Calls, 238 Hours: Siya, Chetan Were In Contact For Six Months Investigators said Goyal, 20, and Chaudhary, 22, had remained in frequent contact for nearly six months before the incident.
Police claim the two exchanged 2,004 phone calls, with the conversations lasting a combined 238 hours. According to the investigation, the accused met at a cafe on the day of the incident, where they allegedly finalised the plan and identified the location at Lohagad Fort in Maval taluka where Agarwal would be pushed into a gorge. He added that Goyal’s brother has been questioned and more relatives and friends will be called for questioning. “We summoned Siya’s brother for the questioning, and other members and friends will also be summoned. So far, the roles of both Siya and Chetan have been established in the alleged murder of Ketan," Tonpe said. Police said Chaudhary initially denied being present at the exact spot where Agarwal fell, but investigators found inconsistencies in his account during questioning. “It was evident that he was lying," another police official said, adding that both accused later admitted to their roles and narrated the sequence of events. Investigators claim the plan involved Goyal giving a pre-decided signal by sitting down, after which Chaudhary allegedly approached from behind and pushed Agarwal into the gorge. Ujjwal Nikam Appointed As Public Prosecutor The investigation has also drawn the attention of the Maharashtra government.
