Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay launched a massive anti-drug awareness marathon at Chennai's Marina Beach, personally running six kilometres at 6 AM. Leading the 'Start Run, Stop Drugs' campaign, Vijay urged the youth to reject narcotics and embrace sports. The event comes amidst heating political battles in the state assembly. Following Vijay's recent taunt directed at Udayanidhi Stalin regarding MK Stalin's absence from the legislature after his defeat in Kolathur, speculation is rife that the DMK chief may contest the upcoming Trichy East by-poll.
The seat was vacated by Vijay after he chose to retain his Perambur constituency. The DMK is also facing potential alliance shifts, with MDMK leaders Vaiko and Durai Vaiko praising Chief Minister Vijay and dropping hints about parting ways with the DMK. As discussions continue on whether MK Stalin will enter the electoral pitch in Trichy East, rumours suggest TVK might field actor Raghav Lawrence, setting the stage for a high-stakes political showdown in Tamil Nadu.
