Minister for Culture and Tourism, P. C. Vishnunadh, has said that the State government is waging an uncompromising war against narcotics through its newly launched initiative, ‘Operation Toofan’. He was speaking after flagging off an anti-drug awareness rally organised by the Kollam Rural Police at the Elampalloor SNSM Higher Secondary School in connection with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
“Enforcement agencies are not only focusing on curbing the local distribution of illicit substances but are also actively tracking and apprehending the kingpins behind major drug networks,” he said. The Minister added that the active support and vigilance of teachers and parents are crucial in accelerating anti-narcotic initiatives across the State.
He urged students to remain vigilant and immediately report any instances of drug sales or consumption in and around school premises to their teachers so that swift legal and corrective actions can be taken.
