Chairman of the Karnataka Bhovi Development Corporation Ramappa M. on Thursday reviewed the progress of works taken up under the corporation in Yadgir. The Bhovi community is still struggling to earn its bread and butter. The community engages in different works for livelihood. Many members don’t have even proper clothes and footwear while doing their family business, he said.
He instructed the officials concerned to try to ensure that the benefits of economic empowerment projects reach the community. Ramappa said that benefits of the five guarantee schemes from the State government, apart from the eight guarantees from the corporation, should reach the Bhovi community effectively. The Forest and Police departments shouldn’t disturb the community people while they are doing their family business of stone crushing and sand transportation, he said.
The corporation is set to distribute tractor trailers, goods vehicles and centring equipment to beneficiaries from this year. “The corporation is planning to encourage the community and support it in dairy farming, cattle rearing and poultry farming,” Mr. Ramappa said. He instructed the officers concerned to dispose of pending applications regarding facilities to be provided to eligible beneficiaries related in Yadgir district by Tuesday.
During the meeting, the chairman interacted with the Bhovi community and heard their grievances. Deputy Commissioner Rahul Tukaram Pandve, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Lavish Ordia, Superintendent of Police Pruthvik Shankar, corporation general manager Shivaswamy and others were present.
