A head-on collision between two private buses in Kerala's Thrissur district left several passengers injured and trapped the driver inside his cabin on Friday. The driver was rescued after a 30-minute rescue operation. The accident took place when two private buses operating on the Amballur–Kallur and Amballur–Palappilly routes collided head-on.
The impact completely crushed the front portions of both vehicles. The driver, identified as Nirmal, became trapped inside the mangled cabin following the collision. Fire and Rescue Services personnel launched a rescue operation and took nearly 30 minutes to cut open the driver's cabin and pull him out safely.

Authorities are yet to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. An investigation is underway. On June 23, at least three people were killed, and five others were injured after a tipper lorry carrying soil went out of control and crashed into a bus stop in Kerala's Kollam district, police said.
