A man has been arrested in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district for allegedly hiring two men to kill his father, a Bharat Coking Coal Limited employee, so that he could get his job on compassionate grounds, police said on Thursday. The two alleged hired killers have also been arrested in connection with the murder of Tuleshwar Nonia, which took place on the night of June 19, Dhanbad Rural Superintendent of Police S Mohammed Yakub said. Read Full Story "Nonia was a coal worker in a BCCL colliery in Barora. He had only two years of service left at BCCL.
His son Vijay Chauhan wanted to secure a permanent job at the colliery on compassionate grounds following his father's death and conspired to eliminate his father," Yakub told reporters. He said Chauhan planned the murder with Amit Singh and Akhilesh Mallah, both residents of Badaura Colony in the Barora police station area. Police claimed Chauhan had offered Rs 10 lakh to the two men to kill his father, though no advance payment was made before the murder. According to Yakub, Chauhan also created an alibi to avoid suspicion. "He told his father he would attend a relative's wedding in Bihar's Aurangabad and left home on Friday morning," the officer said.
Police said that after Nonia's shift ended on Friday night, Singh and Mallah offered him a lift on their motorcycle and took him to a secluded spot, where they allegedly bludgeoned him to death with a big stone. With the intent to destroy evidence and conceal his identity, they then smashed his face and dragged the body to the main road to make it appear as a road accident, Yakub said. "CCTV footage from the BCCL system at the AMP Colliery clearly showed Nonia riding on the same motorcycle with Singh and Mallah. Acting on this lead, the police detained both men and subjected them to rigorous interrogation, eventually uncovering the full truth," the officer said.
According to police records, Mallah has a criminal history and had earlier been jailed in coal and diesel theft cases registered at Madhuban police station. Police said the arrests of Chauhan, Singh and Mallah followed the investigation into Nonia's killing, which they alleged was planned to secure a job at the colliery on compassionate grounds after the death of the BCCL worker.
