Mumbai Locals Hit By Technical Snag: Trains Stuck One After Another Between Dadar And Churchgate Published By, Last Updated: June 26, 2026, 11:27 IST No rain, but Mumbai's Western Railway locals are running up to 20 minutes late after a technical failure between Dadar and Churchgate hit both up and down lines Friday morning. Mumbai Local Train Services: Office-goers and weekend travellers are caught in the same bottleneck. Mumbai’s Western Railway Friday morning turned into a commuter’s nightmare — not because of rain, but because of back-to-back technical failures that threw suburban services into chaos during peak rush hour. And when trains stopped moving, so did the information. An Overhead Equipment fault between Dadar and Churchgate first hit services from around 6:00 am, with disruptions lasting until 7:22 am. Just as that was resolved, a point failure at Churchgate station around 8:00 am triggered a second wave of delays, cascading across both up and down lines on the Western suburban corridor.
Mid-day reported the disruption affected services across the stretch between Andheri and Churchgate during the morning rush. Two Faults, One After Another — What Actually Happened? The OHE fault was the first blow, stalling trains between Dadar and Churchgate for over an hour during one of the busiest travel windows of the day. Railway technical teams worked to restore the overhead equipment, and services began limping back — only for a point failure at Churchgate to deliver a second disruption barely 40 minutes later. Trains ran 15 to 20 minutes behind schedule on both directions, leaving platforms packed and commuters stranded. Services Restored — But Fury Wasn’t Railway officials confirmed both faults were eventually resolved and services gradually normalised. But for thousands of office-goers and students already late and stranded on overcrowded platforms, the restoration offered little comfort.
The anger, commuters made clear, wasn’t just about the delays. ‘Why Was There No Information?’ Commuters Slam Western Railway What made Friday’s disruption worse, passengers said, was a near-total communication blackout. Western Railway issued no timely updates on its official social media handles, made no announcements at stations, and train drivers and guards, according to Mid-day, stepped off halted trains without informing passengers of what was happening. “If the railways knew the timings and nature of the disruption, why were there no updates?" one commuter asked. Another said: “There were no announcements inside the train. They should have informed passengers before leaving." Commuters have since urged Western Railway to overhaul its real-time passenger information systems and ensure prompt communication during future disruptions.
