Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has received major legal relief after the Jharkhand High Court quashed a 2014 FIR related to alleged Model Code of Conduct violation. The case stemmed from his campaign activity during the 2014 Assembly elections in the Adityapur area of Seraikela-Kharsawan district. The FIR, registered at Adityapur police station, had accused him of breaching election norms while campaigning for a Jharkhand Mukti Morcha candidate. Earlier, the High Court had also stayed the trial in the lower court, which had remained pending for several years.
