Negotiations between India and General Electric over the F414 fighter jet engine are ongoing amidst commercial discussions regarding a price increase. The engine, selected to power India's Tejas Mk2 and the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft, was initially expected to cost seventy to eighty crore rupees per unit.
However, the price has reportedly risen to over two hundred crore rupees per engine. Discussions also focus on localisation commitments and production arrangements. India is currently examining alternative engine technologies from France's Safran and Britain's Rolls-Royce as the outcome of the negotiations remains undecided.
