Car Suspended 40 Feet In Air, Burst With Firecrackers During Muharram Procession; 4 Booked Published By, Last Updated: June 26, 2026, 01:07 IST Police in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh filed an FIR after a Muharram stunt hoisting a car by crane with firecracker effects, booking organisers and crane owner. According to the initial investigation, the firecrackers had been placed inside the suspended car. (Source: X) A viral video from Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain has led to a police case after a car was hoisted around 40 feet into the air by a crane before being filled with smoke, sparks and flying glass during a Muharram procession. The incident took place on June 24 in Badnagar. Police have registered an FIR against four people, alleging the stunt was organised to draw crowds and gain traction on social media amid competition between local akhadas, NDTV reported. According to investigators, the procession began from the Adan locality when the crane lifted a car bearing the words “Le Phir Aa Gaye." Moments later, two youths standing on the vehicle waved red flags before smoke and sparks erupted from inside, while the vehicle’s glass shattered, creating the appearance of an explosion.
Banners of “Shere Adan Akhada" were also seen at the venue. The three organisers were allegedly present on the suspended vehicle, waving flags during the act. The case has been registered under Sections 125, 285, 286 and 287 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, with police saying additional individuals may also be brought under the investigation. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Karan Deep Singh said the preliminary probe indicates that the effect was created using firecrackers placed inside the vehicle.
“It appears that rocket-style firecrackers were fired rapidly inside the vehicle. Due to gas buildup, the glass shattered, creating the effect of an explosion. There were only firecrackers inside the vehicle," he said, as per NDTV. Singh added that organisers had been granted permission only for the Muharram procession and had been specifically instructed not to use explosives or perform any such stunt. Police are also examining whether the act was part of a wider pattern of akhadas attempting attention-grabbing performances. Investigators noted that the Instagram account “Parvez Edits_2.0," which shared the viral clip, features several similar videos involving risky stunts. Authorities are also looking into videos purportedly showing members of Hussaini Akhada in Shahjalalpura performing comparable acts.
