The Madhya Pradesh High Court has closed a defamation case against a Lok Sabha member of Parliament after the leader expressed regret over his statements. The case, which was filed in 2018 by the son of a Union Minister, arose from remarks linking him to the Panama Papers controversy during assembly election campaigning.
The leader later clarified that the comments were made in confusion and were intended to refer to the son of the former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh. Following the leader's clarification and expression of regret, the complainant's legal representative informed the court that they did not wish to pursue the matter further.
Consequently, the High Court ordered the closure of all pending proceedings, concluding the long-standing legal dispute.
