A day after Rahul Gandhi expressed regret over a statement targeting Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's son Kartikeya Singh, the Madhya Pradesh High Court on Thursday dismissed a defamation case filed against the Congress leader. Gandhi, who had moved the Jabalpur bench of the high court seeking to cancel the case, expressed regret in writing on Wednesday stating that he had mistakenly referred to Kartikeya Singh in his speech.

The High Court then issued an order dismissing the case. In his written statement submitted to the High Court, Gandhi stated that he had mistakenly named the complainant while talking about the Panama Papers leak scandal, for which he publicly expressed regret the very next day.
