Neymar made his long-awaited return to action as Brazil secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Scotland in Miami on Wednesday, sealing top spot in Group C with their best performance of the 2026 FIFA World Cup so far. Vinicius Junior starred for Brazil, scoring twice in a dominant display, while Matheus Cunha added the third goal to complete the scoring. The match also marked Neymar’s first appearance of the tournament.
The forward came off the bench in the 76th minute, replacing Cunha, after being named in Brazil’s squad for the first time at the World Cup. Neymar had been sidelined since suffering a calf injury while playing for Santos on 17 May. Before Wednesday’s appearance, his most recent match for Brazil had come in October 2023. Brazil will now face the runners-up of Group F in the knockout stage, with their next opponents yet to be confirmed.
