Telangana is preparing a set of proposals on tourism infrastructure, destination management and visitor experience enhancement for presentation at a national summit on developing global-standard tourist destinations scheduled in July, following consultations with government agencies, industry stakeholders and tourism experts in Hyderabad on Wednesday, June 24.
Tourism Special Chief Secretary A. Vani Prasad chaired the State-level consultative workshop on ‘Developing Global Standard Tourist Destinations’. Participants deliberated on strategies to identify and prioritise high-potential destinations across Telangana and develop them into globally competitive tourism hubs capable of attracting both domestic and international visitors.
Discussions focused on improving connectivity, tourism infrastructure, cleanliness, safety, accessibility, destination branding and sustainable management practices. The workshop also examined the Centre’s proposed framework for destination development, which includes the establishment of Destination Management Organisations (DMOs) to undertake professional planning, governance, marketing and long-term management of tourist destinations.
Stakeholders discussed the role of private-sector participation in strengthening tourism infrastructure and enhancing visitor experiences. The suggestions received during the workshop will be consolidated by the Telangana government and incorporated into proposals to be presented at the Summit on Developing Global Standard Tourist Destinations in July.
