Breaking: Akal Takht Summons Sikh MLAs, Seeks Explanation From Non-Sikhs Over Anti-Sacrilege Law
Sri Akal Takht Sahib has issued letters to all MLAs of the Punjab Legislative Assembly regarding the passage of the Jagat Jyot Sri Guru Granth
Sri Akal Takht Sahib has issued letters to all MLAs of the Punjab Legislative Assembly regarding the passage of the Jagat Jyot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Sanskar Act 2026. All Sikh MLAs and ministers have been summoned to appear before the Sri Akal Takht Sahib on 29 June, while non-Sikh MLAs and ministers have been directed to submit their written explanations.
The summon comes after the Aam Aadmi Party government amended the anti-sacrilege law, toughening punishment, without consulting the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) or Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Non-Sikh MLAs must provide written explanations for giving consent to the law.
