Lohagad Fort Murder Case: Fresh details have emerged in the investigation of murder case of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal, with police claiming that Ketan’s fiance Siya Goyal and her boyfriend Chetan Chaudhary searched online for ways to kill him before allegedly executing the plan at Lohagad Fort on June 18. The probe has also brought to light extensive communication between the two accused with police claiming that the duo’s internet activity, call records and messages point to a premeditated conspiracy that culminated in Agarwal’s death after he was allegedly pushed into a gorge at the hill fort near Lonavala on June 18. According to police, forensic examination of mobile phones and digital records revealed that Goyal and Chaudhary had searched online for methods to kill a person in the days leading up to the incident.
Investigators examined records of 2,004 calls exchanged between the duo between January and June this year. The analysis revealed that they spent a cumulative 238 hours talking to each other over the six months. “The investigation indicates that the murder was planned in advance. Their digital footprint, including internet searches and communication records, forms a crucial part of the evidence," Pune (Rural) Superintendent of Police, Sandip Singh Gill said as quoted by Hindustan Times. Police said that the duo communicated through regular calls, WhatsApp calls and FaceTime, with the frequency of contact strengthening suspicions about the nature of their relationship and the alleged conspiracy. “The probe has also revealed that on the day of the incident, Goyal and Chaudhary allegedly met at a cafe before heading to Lohagad Fort and discussed the plan to eliminate Agarwal," he added. News agency PTI quoted an investigating officer as saying, “We found thousands of calls exchanged between the two over an extended period, including several conversations lasting for hours." “The technical analysis established a close connection between the duo and pointed towards a well-thought-out conspiracy," the officer added. According to IANS, police also discovered that Chetan operated a shop in Pune’s Market Yard area, where Siya’s family business is located. Police believe the conspiracy was finalised on June 16 and 17.
